The Technical Certificate is based on the national occupational standards units which involves setting up and operation of equipment for the production of glass supporting fabrications. The candidate is expected to be able to prepare the equipment for operation. The candidate has to monitor the equipment during operation and identify any indications of malfunction or poor performance. In addition, the candidate has to maintain the equipment, at least in the sense of keeping the equipment clean and clear from obstructions. It is not expected that the candidate have to undertake routine or emergency maintenance of the kind carried out by maintenance engineers.
